Astrid Lulling

Astrid Lulling ( born June 11, 1929 in Schifflingen, Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourgian politician.

Life

After her schooling studied Lulling 1953-1955 Economics at the University of Saarbrücken. Lulling worked from 1949 to 1963 for the Lëtzebuerger Arbechter Association, a predecessor organization of the Independent Trade Union Confederation of Luxembourg. From 1963 to 1971 Lulling was chairman of the socialist women in the socialist Lëtzebuerger Esch Aarbechterpartei and was from 1971 to 1982 a member of the Social Democrat Party Esch (1970), which had split from the Socialist Lëtzebuerger Esch Aarbechterpartei. In 1970 she reached the in the city council of Schifflingen, to which she belonged until 2000. From 1970 to 1985 Lulling Mayor of Schifflingen. Since 1984 Lulling is a member of the Christian Social People's Party.

Lulling belonged from 1965 to 1974 and since 1989 the European parliament as deputies to.

Along with her great-nephew, the linguist Jérôme Lulling, she is committed to the preservation of the Luxembourgish language.
