Ata'ollah Mohajerani

Seyyed Ataollah Mohajerani (Persian عطاءالله مهاجرانی; born 1954 in Arak, Markazi ) is an Iranian politician who held many high Ämte, and author of numerous books in the field of dialogue between religions and cultures.

Life

From 1996-2000 he was the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance ( Ershad Ministerial ) in the cabinet of President Mohammad Khatami. Before his retirement he was some as ' main architect of the cultural renaissance of Iran '.

He is currently one of the representatives of Islam in the nine-member Board of the King Abdullah Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna.

He received his BA degree at the University of Isfahan, his MA in history and Iranian culture at the University of Shiraz. He completed his PhD on the history of Islamic history at the Tarbiat Modares University.

Mohajerani was a lecturer and academic member of Tarbiat Modarres University, Tehran, member of the National Commission for UNESCO of the Iran High Council, from 2000-2003 he was the director of the International Center for Dialogue of Civilizations in Tehran, Iran.

2009 Mohajerani left Iran and now lives with his wife, the Iranian politician and former Member of Parliament Jamileh Kadivar ( جمیله کدیور ), in England.
