Atget (crater)

Atget is an impact crater on the planet Mercury. The crater has a diameter of one hundred kilometers and is distinguished due to its dark color, much of the planet's surface from. The Atget crater is named after the French photographer Eugène Atget ( 1857-1927 ). It lies within the plane of the Caloris Planitia heat, near the crater Apollodorus and the Pantheon - trench ( 25.6 ° N/193, 9 ° W). The dark tint of Atget puts him in contrast to the other craters within the plane of heat, which generally have a bright crater floor, such as the crater Kertész or Sander. Other Mercury craters such as Basho and Neruda have a yard of dark material, which never covers the crater floor.
