Atlético Hidalgo

Atlético Hidalgo is a football club based in Pachuca, the capital of the Mexican state of Hidalgo. The well known by the nickname Toltecas (Spanish for Toltec ) known team wears their home games at three thousand seater Estadio Revolución Pachuca.

History

The club was formed in 1996 after the city rivals Pachuca had the rise of managed División in the Primera and at the same time its time under the name Primera División 'A' run second football league Mexico for the coming season 1996/97 was increased from 16 to 18 teams. Besides Atlético Hidalgo was founded for this purpose also Real Sociedad de Zacatecas and included in the league.

The " Toltecas " played an excellent season and achieved victories against Marte ( 0-0 and 1-0) and the " Mitaufsteiger " Real Sociedad (2-0 and 5-1 ), the finals of the Winter Tournament 1996 ( first half of the season 1996 / 97 ), which were against the league dominating UANL Tigres lost 1-0 and 0-3. In the summer tournament in 1997 ( second half of the season 1996 /97) Atlético Hidalgo failed in the quarter-finals with 1:4 and 3:1 against the Tigrillos, the B-team the Tigres.

After only one year in which the " Toltecas " the league had enriched, the license to the first division club Deportivo Toluca was sold, which needed this in the second division for a starting place his newly created branch teams Atlético Mexiquense.

Since then Atlético Hidalgo is represented in the fourth division Tercera División and is currently playing (season 2012 /13) in group VI.
