ATP World Tour 500 series

The ATP World Tour 500 (up to and including 2008 ATP International Series Gold, 1990-1997 ATP Championship Series ) is a set of tournaments on the ATP World Tour. The name derives from the fact that starting from the season 2009 500 world ranking points will be awarded for the victory. The tournaments of the World Tour 500 are located in the valence below the ATP World Tour Masters 1000, but above the ATP World Tour 250.

The series currently consists of eleven tournaments are held eight of which are on hard court and three on sand.

For victories in tournaments on the ATP World Tour 500 players get to the tennis world ranking, a fixed number of points:

Entry system

(* ) All tournaments in Washington, Hamburg and Barcelona have a 48- peloton and is therefore played a second round before the knockout stages. A qualifier receives at these tournaments as opposed to the 32 mm draws tournaments only 10 additional points for qualifying.

Records

  • The most wins in a single has so far won Rafael Nadal with win 15 tournaments. They are followed by Roger Federer (12 ), Pete Sampras (12 ), Novak Djokovic (10) and Boris Becker ( 9).
  • Most ATP World Tour 500 tournaments in a season in single won Juan Martín del Potro (2013 ), Stefan Edberg (1991) and Boris Becker (1990 ), each with four titles. They are followed by Novak Djokovic (2009), Rafael Nadal (2005) and Pete Sampras (1996 ), each with three titles in one season.
  • The record for the most ATP World Tour 500 tournament wins in a row keeps Rafael Nadal with three titles in a row. In the 2005 season he was able to consecutively win the tournament in Acapulco, Barcelona and Stuttgart.
  • Most wins in a single ATP World Tour 500 tournament could overtake Rafael Nadal in Barcelona with eight titles in the years 2005 to 2009 and 2011 to 2013. He is followed by Andre Agassi (Washington) and Roger Federer (Dubai ) with five titles at the same tournament.
  • The most wins in a double could not won Daniel Nestor with 18 win tournaments. They are followed by Nenad Zimonjic (16 ), Mark Knowles (15) Bob Bryan (12 ) and Mike Bryan (12).
