Attila Mesterházy

Attila Mesterházy ( born January 30, 1974 in Pécs ) is a Hungarian politician. Since 10 July 2010, he is the party leader of the Socialist MSZP. The end of 2009 Mesterházy was elected top candidate of his party for the 2010 parliamentary elections and thus a candidate for the office of Prime Minister of Hungary. In 2014 he was elected as leading candidates of the electoral alliance Összefogás 2014 for the parliamentary elections in Hungary 2014.

Career

From 1992 to 1997 he studied economics at the Budapest Corvinus University. He obtained his doctorate in 1999; Subject of his PhD was the regional policy of the European Union. He then worked in PR. Since 2001 he worked for the MSZP in politics, worked among others in the family and in the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Government Péter Medgyessys as well as chairman of the youth organization of the MSZP.
