Auderghem (French ) or Oudergem (Dutch ) is one of 19 municipalities of the Brussels- Capital Region. In the municipality of 31,963 inhabitants ( as of January 1, 2012) to 10.5 km ².

Location

Auderghem / Oudergem located in the southeast of Brussels, bordering the Brussels municipalities Watermael-Boitsfort/Watermaal-Bosvoorde, Ixelles / Elsene, Etterbeek and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre/Sint-Pieters-Woluwe and to the Flemish suburbs Tervuren and Overijse. The municipality has large share of the Brussels city forest, the Forêt de Sonian / Zoniënwoud. At the edge of the forest lies the ancient abbey Red Monastery, another former abbey is Herzoginnental in the same park. The latter is used by the Belgian Government for meetings or receptions. In the 1950s, the Treaty of Rome was largely in Val- Duchesse ( as the French name ) worked out.

The attractive location near the forest and the preferred anyway Brussels East Auderghem / Oudergem one of the most affluent municipalities in Brussels.

Traffic

The Metro line 1 ends here, five stations are located in the municipality ( Hankar, Delta, Beaulieu, Demey and Herrmann- Debroux ). Moreover Auderghem / Oudergem starting point of the A-4 motorway towards Namur.
