Augury (band)

Augury is a Canadian progressive death metal band from Montreal, which was founded in 2001.

History

The founding members of the band met in 1997 for the first time. In the winter of 2001 the band was formed after guitarist Mathieu Marcotte had left his band Spasme, and started with other members, whose cast often changed to rehearse songs. A short time later met singer Arianne Fleury and bassist Dominic "Forest" Lapointe (ex - Quo Vadis ) joined the band and started another new pieces to take.

In February 2002, singer and guitarist Patrick Loisel joined the band. In June 2002, was completed by drummer Mathieu Groulx, the band briefly. This was followed by preparations for the first gigs. After Groulx short time later, the band had left again, continue rehearsing the band without a drummer until she found a suitable replacement with Etienne Gallo. The first album Concealed was recorded by Yannick St- Amand and Jean -François Dagenais ( Kataklysm ) mixed. It was released in 2004 via Galy Records.

The second album Fragmentary Evidence was released on July 17, 2009 in Europe and on August 11 in North America via Nuclear Blast.

Style

Especially characteristic is the complex structure of the pieces. The song is highly variable, which is caused primarily by frequent use of guest vocalists. To be heard, among other things Sven De Caluwé ( Aborted ) and Youri Raymond ( Cryptopsy ). In the works also some elements from jazz to be processed.
