August Bischler

August Bishler (* April 29, 1865, † May 26, 1957 ) was a Russian- Swiss chemist. He is best known for his discovery, along with Bernard Napieralski, the Bishler -Napieralski reaction.

Life

Bishler in 1889 received his doctorate at the University of Zurich. Until 1899 he was a lecturer there. From 1899 he moved to the University of Basel. After he took Swiss citizenship in 1925, he worked in the chemical industry in Geneva.

Bernard Napieralski was one of his graduate students at the University of Zurich (1893 ). He was born in 1861 in Poland.
