Auguste Magdalene of Hessen-Darmstadt

Magdalene Auguste of Hesse -Darmstadt ( born March 6, 1657 Darmstadt, † September 1, 1674 ibid ) was a German nobleman and poet.

Life

Auguste Magdalene was a daughter of the Landgrave Louis VI. of Hesse- Darmstadt (1630-1678) from his marriage to Maria Elisabeth (1634-1665), daughter of Duke Friedrich III. of Schleswig -Holstein - Gottorp.

Like her father and her sister Magdalene Sibylle she was active as a writer. She brought the Psalms of David in German verses and wrote the poetry book The door to German poetry. She died only 17 years old and is buried in the City Church Darmstadt.
