Augustin-Joseph de Mailly

Augustin- Joseph, comte de Mailly, marquis d' Haucourt, ( born April 5, 1708 Villaine, Sarthe, † guillotined March 25, 1794 in Arras, Pas -de- Calais ) was a French General, Chevalier du Saint -Esprit 1776 and Marshal of France in 1783.

Augustin- Joseph de Mailly began his career in 1726 with the musketeers. From 1733 to 1764 he served in the Compagnie des gendarmes de la Reine. In 1749 he was appointed inspector general of cavalry and dragoons. He was governor of Abbeville and Sénéchal and Grand bailli of Ponthieu. In 1791 he was appointed commander of the 14th and 15th Division.
