Augustyn Bloch
Augustyn Hipolit Bloch ( born August 13, 1929 in Grudziądz, † April 6, 2006 in Warsaw) was a Polish composer and organist.
After the conclusion of the State Music School in Gdansk - long transit Bloch studied at the State Academy of Music in Warsaw in Feliks Raczkowski and Tadeusz Szeligowski ( completion in 1954 for playing the organ, 1956 for the study of composition ). He has composed for Polish Radio. From 1977 to 1979 he was vice- president of the Polish Composers' Union, 1983-1987 Chairman of the Program Committee of the Warsaw Autumn festival. He was married to the coloratura soprano Halina Lukomska - Bloch and was considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary music in Poland. For his work he has received numerous national and international awards. He was for a time closely associated with the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music.
