Aulnay (Charente-Maritime)

Aulnay is a commune southwest of Poitiers in the department of Charente -Maritime in the Poitou -Charentes with 1448 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It is located some 84 km south-west of Poitiers and 40 km northeast of Saintes. Aulnay is the capital of the canton of the same name.

The former pilgrimage church of Saint -Pierre is in the development of the art of Poitou is a particular highlight and is one of the most important monuments of Romanesque art in France. She is since 1998 a part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage " Camino de Santiago in France."
