Latropiscis purpurissatus

The flag -finned fishes ( Aulopidae ) are a family of lizards fish relatives ( Aulopiformes ). There are twelve species and four genera.

Dissemination

Flag finned fishes live except in tropical and subtropical regions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and the Mediterranean. Their habitat are the soft bottoms of the continental Schelfes. They live particularly common Madeira, the Canary Islands and the coast of northwestern Africa.

Appearance

Flag -finned fishes are of slender, elongated shape her body is covered with round or comb scales. The number of vertebrae is 36-53. The predators have a big head, big eyes and a deeply divided mouth. They are 20 to 60 inches long. The dorsal fin is large and located on the anterior third of the body. Also, abdominal and anal fins are large. Flag -finned fishes have a dorsal fin.
