Aurélien Clerc ( born August 6, 1979 in Vevey ) is a retired Swiss cyclist.

Career

Clerc was 2001 professional at the post Swiss team after he went two months in 2000 as a trainee there. After his move to Mapei - Quick Step in 2002, the Sprinter drove one of his first successes by winning individual sections of smaller tours next to the Belgian one-day race Nokere - Koerse. In subsequent years, he decided stages in the Tour of Picardie and the Tour of Burgos for himself, before he could draw attention to themselves in the Pro Tour in 2005 for the first time. Although he remained without a victory, was, however, both the Giro d' Italia, and the Tour de Suisse in the mass sprints to the front ranks. Following the stage success in 2008 during the Three Days of West Flanders, he reached the semi- classic Gent- Wevelgem behind Oscar Freire in second place. In December 2009, Clerc ended his career.
