Aurelio Vidmar

Aurelio Vidmar ( born February 3, 1967 in Adelaide, Australia ) is an Australian former football player, who currently works as a coach.

Career

Club career

Vidmar began his career in his home in Adelaide City, before moving to Europe in 1991. His first stop was the Belgian club KV Kortrijk. There he knew to persuade and moved to second division side KSV Waregem. After the descent 1994, the crowned Oceania's Footballer of the Year went to Standard Liege. He was top scorer with 22 goals.

1995 Vidmar tried briefly at Feyenoord Rotterdam, but then went to FC Sion. In the summer 1996 he moved to Spain to CD Tenerife, but where he came only 25 missions in two years. Then he left Europe and went to Sanfrecce Hiroshima in Japan. After two seasons, he returned back to his hometown club in 1999 Adelaide City, where he played for four years. From 2003, he had his career end with Adelaide United, where he was assistant coach after his career end of 2004. Since the beginning of 2007 he has been head coach of the club.

National

Vidmar ran to a total of 53 times for Australia. Here, get him 18 goals. It was 1993, 1997 and 2001 respectively at the disappointing land for its selection decision for the World Cup qualifying games on the court and was for a time captain of the selection. After the qualification was missed for the 2002 World Cup by a 0-3 defeat against Uruguay in 2001, he announced his retirement.

His younger brother Tony Vidmar is also professional football players. The family is of Slovenian descent.
