Aurora is a Hungarian punk rock band from Győr.

Band History

Aurora was in 1982 by " Vigi " (guitar / vocals), " Galacs " (Bass), " Polyak " (drums) and "Duration" (vocals ) founded in Győr in Hungary.

In the early years, the band had critically expressed to the communist regime and Aurora was banned. From 1984 to 1988 she appeared under a false name. Her then singer had time for two years in prison because he " had not made ​​the right choice of words " against the communists. He was then expelled from the country. Aurora had to find a new singer. " Krisztina " became the new singer. But after a short time also left this Aurora. From then had to sing " Vigi " because there is no equivalent replacement could be found.

During this time, a few Austrian punks were aware of the band. So Aurora played their first concert outside Eastern Europe. 1988 went to Hungary for the first time on tour in Germany. From the concert revenue, they released their first EP "Aurora", which appeared on the German label "Empty Records ".

1989 the debut album " Good bye, Iván " ( German "Bye, Russian "), which coincides coincidentally with the end of the Soviet occupation in Hungary. " Good bye, Iván " is a huge success for the conditions; 20,000 plates can be sold. Their next album, " Előre Kurvak, Gengszterek " ( "Forward, prostitutes and gangsters " ) was published in 1992 after three years of work, surpassing " Good bye, Iván " even, not least thanks to the excellent production. " Előre Kurvak, Gengszterek " was finally released on " Hulk Räckorz " in Germany. In 1994 the CD " Mindhalálig Punk" ( "Forever Punk" ) with their fellow German band WIZO. It can be heard WIZO old songs and first Aurora recordings.

In the mid-nineties, Aurora released two albums, the " rocking ", that were of commercial, namely " Fel Tamada " ( " Resurrection ") and " Keseru Cukor " ( " Bitter Sugar "). Both, however, were not particularly successful. Your 1996 released album " Nincs Karácsony " ( " There is no Christmas" ) was then " punky " and was nominated in Hungary for the " punk album of the year ". Is on " Nincs Karácsony " is also the first time their new band member " Qka " to hear that impresses with his trumpet playing. A year later, their album " Illegális bal" appeared ( " Illegal Party" ).

1999 appeared in Amoebenklang Records " Rúkensturcli in Kukenstrasse " together with the Hamburg punk band antibodies also appeared in Aurora Records. Also in 1999 appeared the "Compilation 1983-1989 ", a CD with songs from the period 1983-1989, in " Hulk Räckorz " in Germany and in Aurora Records under the title " Valogatás " with a slightly different selection. And in 1999 they recorded the album " Balkan Express". "Balkan Express" contains three new songs trumpet, some Poppunklieder and several fast songs in Aurora long-known quality. It is one of the most diverse albums of Aurora.

In 2001, Aurora produced her album "A rezervátum mélyén ". The latest album was released in 2004 on the Aurora Records label under the title " Meddig tart? " ("How long for? "). All the songs on the new album are under 2 ½ minutes. Thus, it is so far the shortest album of the band. In the opinion of drummer Kiskovács the new work is most comparable with the album " Keserü Cukor ".
