Auros

Auros is a commune with 942 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Gironde department in the region of Aquitaine. It is the capital of the eponymous canton and member of the local Association Pays d' Auros. Residents Aurossais call themselves.

Geography

The town is located on an average altitude of 100 meters above the sea on the highlands of the Gironde, on the river Beuve, a left tributary of the Garonne. To the northwest are Bordeaux at 58 Kilometres and Langon at 11 Kilometres away. To Auros part of the district of Saint -Germain and numerous scattered hamlets.

The neighboring communities of Auros are Brannens in the north, Savignac in the northeast, Berthez the southeast, Brouqueyran the southwest, Coimères in the West, Saint -Pierre- de -Mons in the Northwest as well as Saint- Pardon -de- Conques and Bieujac in the north - northwest.

Culture and sights

  • The church of Notre -Dame dates from the 13th century.
  • Auros has a botanical path, can be viewed on which orchids.

Economy and infrastructure

In Auros there is a distribution center for natural gas.

The nearest motorway junction is located in Langon, on the Autoroute A62. Since 2010 Auros between Langon and Pau is passed by the Autoroute A65. The department D10 road connects Auros with Berthez and Langon.

The nearest railway station is located in Langon, on the line Bordeaux - Sète SNCF. This route is served by passenger trains of the TER Aquitaine.
