Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012

Austria rocks the Song Contest was the title of the Austrian preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 in Baku ( Azerbaijan). The show was broadcast live on ORF one on 24 February 2012. In a telephone audience vote, the Trackshittaz were determined with Woki with deim Popo as an Austrian participants of the ESC. By sending led Mirjam Vistula Brown, Robert Kratky and Andi Knoll.

Of these candidates, Mary Broadcast band came in the previous year (2011) among the top 30, the dialect band Trackshittaz failed - also in 2011 - in the final narrowly to Nadine Beiler.

Near- disqualification

Originally the band Dela Dap with the song Crazy Swing should take the preliminary round on 24 February 2012, but on January 27, 2012 a rumor took round, after which the band is said to have published the said song before September 1, 2011. However, this is illegal according to statutes of the ESC, as each song may be played for the first time after 1 September of the previous year. After careful examination of the rumor to truth by the radio station Ö3 those responsible had to confirm this rumor be correct and Dela Dap time being disqualified from the qualifying round on 29 January 2012. Accordingly, the band had in the context of a small concert played the song on August 19, 2011 in Odessa, Ukraine, such as, among others, a clip on YouTube shows. After a week, was in the considered is how now to proceed, Dela Dap received on 3 February 2012 a second chance - with the song Do not Turn Around.
