Austrian Student Aid Foundation

The Austrian Studentenförderungsstiftung is the second largest carrier of dormitories (name in Austria ) and student hostels (name in Germany ) in Austria. It is geared profit organization.

History

On May 6, 1958, the Central Committee of the Austrian Student Union decided to build the Austrian Studentenförderungsstiftung. To the time of its establishment the foundation's assets from the usufruct was ( unlimited right to use, with maintenance obligation) for 99 years to the properties in the Führichgasse 10, 1010 Vienna and Döblinger Street 55, 1190 Vienna. Both properties belonged to the Austrian Student Union.

By decision of 25 May 1959, the pen letter was approved foundation by the authorities. On 9 July 1959, the inaugural meeting of the Board of the Austrian Studentenförderungsstiftung took place.

Over the years, new objects came to the two original objects to the Führichgasse and Döblinger main road and were discharged from economic and organizational reasons objects.

Purpose of the Foundation

Purpose of the Foundation is the promotion of listeners Austrian universities

  • The enrolled at the time of application or at the examination stage ( absolution ) are,
  • Austrian citizenship have ( apart from this requirement was by decision of the Board of Trustees),
  • Have a positive academic success and
  • Are in need.

The purpose is achieved by

  • Provision of living quarters
  • Management of housing
  • Distribution of grants and performing other support actions

Organs

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the supreme organ of the Foundation. It consists of university professors, representatives of some factions of the Austrian Student Union and representatives of associations that are active in the sense of the Foundation. The Board of Trustees elects for a period of three years a chairman and two deputies.

The duties of the Board of Trustees include the appointment and removal of directors, representing the organization to the outside, the Resolution on the Rules of Procedure of the Board of Trustees, the fixing of guidelines for the activities of directors and to establish the principles and conditions for the allocation of housing. Furthermore, the Board of Trustees shall approve the annual budget, the annual report of the director and the financial statements and decides matters of administration that are not delegated to other organs. A job as a board member is a volunteer.

Manager

The directors are appointed by the Board of Trustees for three years, the board of trustees itself may not be members but. According to pen letter two directors are required. They shall continue business under the guidelines adopted by the Board of Trustees, the pen letter to the Rules and the decisions of the Board of Trustees. They report their findings in an annual report. The directors have the right to be present at the Board meetings in an advisory capacity.

Standing Committee

The Rules of Procedure of the Austrian Studentenförderungsstiftung, the Board of Trustees form committees. The committees may take on tasks and make decisions that are not exclusively reserved for the Board of Trustees in the pen letter.

It was formed a Standing Committee, whose task is to provide advice and decisions on important matters of continuing operations. It consists of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, his two deputies and the President of the Austrian National Union of Students. A representative of the resident has an advisory vote. The chairman reported at the next Board meeting on their activities and decisions of the committee meetings.
