Autobahnsee (Augsburg)

The Augsburg Autobahnsee is located south of the Augsburg airport at junction Augsburg- Ost exit of the motorway 8.

History

In the years 1936 and 1937, the Autobahnsee was dredged to win gravel for highway construction. He served the Navy SA99 then as a training ground. Plans to build a hotel on a beach with Autobahnsee were made by the outbreak of the Second World War destroyed.

Hydrology

The quarry is about 17 hectares in size, up to four meters deep and is used for bathing and fish breeding waters. The water quality is regularly checked by the health department and proves to be free of bacteria as continuous. In the past, reported water samples after a heavy rain event increased bacteriological values. The allowable limit value of up to 2000 of Escherichia coli bacteria in 100 ml of water has been exceeded 100. After a short time, however, water samples were again taken and have shown that the water quality was in order.

Description

The Autobahnsee is located just north of the highway and is bordered to the east by Dickelsmoor and the ADAC Driving Safety Center Augsburg. For those seeking relaxation, there are three parking spaces available as well as lawns, picnic areas, children's play area and toilets. Access is via a path that leads around the lake.

In addition to a kiosk are also a beer garden and a restaurant on the lake. For the safety of bathers one directly on the shore lifeguard station provides. The lake is also known for the westerly campsite and the specially created for model boat dock.

Both the Kaisersee and the Derchinger quarry are in close proximity to Autobahnsee.

Fishing

The lake serves as a fish farm waters. The main fish are carp, eel, tench and rainbow trout. Throughout the year you can also fish here for northern pike, but which are barely larger than about 45 inches. Regularly rainbow trout, brook trout and brown trout are exposed that can be caught in the rear part of the lake with spinning rods. Permits are two hand fishing, only one of which may be suitable for predators. For spin fishing only a fishing may be used.

Live bait fish, scales and evisceration of fish, as prohibited in any other German lake. A Fried fish on the day, just like the fish out of the boat in accordance with the Regulation of the city of Augsburg, allowed.
