Automotive Design and Development

Nova Cars was a British automobile manufacturer that was established in 1978-1990 Mirfield (Yorkshire ). Founder and owner was Vic Elam.

Technology

The only model was the two-seater Nova, a sports car with front bruised, folding roof, which implements the basic ideas of the Ford GT40 and Lamborghini Miura in a fiberglass body on a VW Beetle chassis with VW Beetle mechanics.

History

The kit car had been designed in 1971 by Richard Oakes and constructed by Phil Sayers. From 1971 to 1975 he was the Automotive Design and Development Ltd.. (ADD ), a car manufacturer, which was established until 1973 in Southampton ( Hampshire) and then in Accrington ( Lancashire ). 1978 Vic Elam bought the rights to the Nova. Following the closure of his work, the rights to Shashi Vyas went on, the company Aerotec Nova today still resides in London. Until 1996, yet emerged a few copies of the Nova; now store the body shapes in Cornwall.

Under license

License production of the Nova were manufactured in Australia as Purvis Eureka. In France they were called Défi, in Italy Totem and Puma, New Zealand Scorpion, in Austria Ledl in South Africa Eagle, Switzerland Gryff, in the United States Sterling and Sovran and Zimbabwe Tarantula. In addition, there were many unlicensed copies. Some versions had it with pop-up headlights and wing doors, but the basic shape of the car always remained the same.

In film and television

Some versions of the Nova appeared in films such as The highway is again in turmoil as Frankenstein's Death Race, Winners and Sinners and Condorman on.
