Autonomous regions of China
An Autonomous Region (in Chinese自治区/自治区, Pinyin zizhiqu ) is an administrative unit in the People's Republic of China. It is the highest level of ethnic autonomy in the country.
There are five autonomous regions. These are:
- Guangxi
- Inner Mongolia
- Ningxia
- Tibet
- Xinjiang
The mistranslation of " Autonomous Region " is still used in part in the German language goes back to a superficial transfer from English ( " Autonomous Region " ) and does not consider the difference in meaning between " region" ( German ) and "region " (English). All official translations from the Chinese, especially German -language publications from China, use the correct term " autonomous region ".
