Avalerion

Alérion, also in the German language, known as gestümmelter eagle, shows an eagle without beak and catches with side wings outstretched. However, the beaks fall away only since the 16th century. This form of representation was from the 14th century, often in French Heraldry use as a shield figure. As a sign of victory of a nobleman over an enemy it was usually a herald picture hook and as an emblem a common figure. As it appears Lorraine coat of arms since the 13th century often threesome on red diagonal bar.
