Ave Maria (Schubert)
Ellen's Third Song ( Ellens Gesang III " Hymn to the Virgin ", D 839, Op. 52 No. 6), was composed by Franz Schubert in the year 1825.
Origin
This is often referred to as Schubert's Ave Maria piece is based on Walter Scott's poem Lady of the Lake. The German translation made to Adam Storck. Storck version reported by the girl Ellen Douglas, the Lady of the Lake ( " Princess of the Lake" ). She hides herself with her father in a cave to escape the King Roderick Dhu on, a clan chief revenge, who was sent into exile and has given her shelter. Position within the cycle
Schubert set to music in 1825 a selection of seven songs from Scott's The Lady of the Lake. They were published in 1826 as his Opus 52. The songs are not uniform in the cast: The three songs of Ellen are piano songs for a woman's voice, the songs and the Norman Earl Douglas were intended for the baritone Johann Michael Vogl. The remaining two songs are written for a woman ensemble ever a men's and.
Schubert set to music the songs on the German broadcasts of the texts. With the exception of No. 5, the songs, however, were evidently intended to be released with the original English lyrics. The right- free transmission of Adam Storck had to be translated and adapted according to each of the music, which was associated with significant difficulties.

Ellen's Third Song is in the computer game Rainbow Six: Blood Money used: Raven Shield, and the computer game series Hitman. He is also the theme song of the movie Hitman - Everybody dies alone.
In the film The free will, there is a longer scene in a church in which Ellen's Third Song of Bernadette Büllmann is sung.
In the classic film Fantasia Schubert's work is also to be found, and also to listen to the soundtrack, as well as in the animated series South Park in episode 2 of season 2.
In the film adaptation Christine / L' Amante pura (F / I 1958, according to Arthur Schnitzler's flirtation; Music: Georges Auric ) of this song can be heard with orchestral accompaniment (orchestra, singer: unknown).
