Aveluy

Aveluy ( Picard: Avluy ) is a northern French village with 505 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is part of the Canton of Albert and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot.

Geography

Aveluy lies on the right bank of the river Ancre, and on the northern edge of Albert to running in the east-west direction, here the Ancre crossing street department D20 and extending in a north-south direction, the following Ancre Territory road D50. Through the village the railway line Paris -Lille runs. In the northern town of Bois d' Aveluy ( the Ancre right) and the Bois de la Haie are (left of the Ancre ).

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
