Avisa Relation oder Zeitung

Aviso relation or newspaper is one of the first German-speaking regularly ( in her case, weekly), published newspapers. The first issue was released on January 15, 1609 in Wolfenbüttel.

It was subtitled: What embark VND has happened / in German: VND Welschland / Spannien / Niederlandt / Engellandt / Franckreich / Vngern / Austria / Sweden / Poland / and in all Provintzen / East: vnnd West India etc.

The name " Aviso " means " letter ", " announcement " or " message ". Publisher and printer was Julius Adolph of sons. After his death, the newspaper was until at least 1627 by Elias Holwein ( 1579-1659 ) further edited.

The latest edition of the newspaper appeared likely on December 15 in 1632. Considered the second oldest newspaper in the world after the 1605 first published relation of all Fürnemmen and gedenckwürdigen Historien from Strasbourg in Alsace. The contents were from the political correspondence of Duke Friedrich Ulrich of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel, who resided still in Wolfenbüttel then. They came from various European cities including Vienna, Rome, Antwerp and Cologne, and were in accordance with the political- diplomatic- military nature and for an elite readership compiled. The position of the " Aviso " was Protestant.

The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library in Hanover is a completely preserved edition of the first year of 1609.
