Avo Session Basel

Baloise session (until 2012 under the name AVO SESSION Basel) is an indoor music festival in Switzerland, occurring at the international and national stars in a coffee table atmosphere. The festival of international significance takes place annually in October / November in Basel.

A special feature of this Basel Music Events applies in addition to the closeness to the stars, the combination of two or three artists per evening concert, which stand in a specific relation and so the guests tell a musical story. This will give visitors a thematic evening presented, with artists who have a similar stylistic, historical or geographical background or have another commonality.

The music club seating with candle light, some of which special program combinations and the big names on a small scale are referred to by the organizers as the hallmark of BALOISE SESSION. The total utilization is at 95 years and 100%.

Foundation

Baloise session originated from the bend of the Rhine, founded by Enrico Bonometti, Matthias Müller and Stephan Werthmüller in autumn 1985 session. The first edition of the festival in May 1986 began with five sold-out concerts with artists such as Oscar Peterson, Albert Collins and Koko Taylor. Regional establishment

With the commitment of Miles Davis, a pioneering milestone was set in 1988. TV and radio broadcasting

Through the Swiss radio and television, all concerts will be recorded integrally and published worldwide in over 140 countries on all 5 continents. Thus, the Basel Music Festival is also seen in countries such as Japan, Argentina and China. Specific program highlights will be broadcast live from Euro vision or ARTE. 2006 took place the first Euro - vision transmission of the festival with Sir Elton John. This was followed in 2007, the Europe-wide live broadcast of the concert with Katie Melua.

Various concerts are broadcast on Radio 1 and SRF SRF 3. Some concerts are available on DVD.

Name change in 2013

Since 2013, the festival is called Baloise session because since the Basler occur as a presenting sponsor of the music festival. The contract for the Baloise session will initially run for five years. By 2012, the festival was 15 years, carried out under the name AVO SESSION Basel.

The sponsorship contract with the company Oettinger Davidoff Group could not be continued due to a change in the law regarding tobacco advertising. Thus, a tobacco company, neither with their company name, nor with any of its products or brands (AVO Cigars) may occur in the festival name, there may be of public space from any tobacco advertising more visible; this also includes title sponsorship. Therefore, it was changed after the expiry of the contract, the advertising sponsor.
