Avvenire

Avvenire ( in German: future, what is to come ) is an Italian daily newspaper. It was formed in 1968 from the merger of two Catholic newspapers: L' Italia from Milan and the Avvenire d' Italia of Bologna. The newspaper has a strong focus on the teaching of the Catholic Church, but is independent of the hierarchy. The Statute of the Avvenire, for example, noted that the newspaper can occupy its own position to defend the values that are based on humanity, morality, depth and solidity. The Avvenire characterizes himself as an inspired by Catholicism newspaper, which is published by Christians, but should also appeal to non-Christians or atheists.
