Axalp

The Axalp is a mountain at an altitude of around 1535 m above sea level Located in the municipality of Brienz in the district of Interlaken in the canton of Bern in Switzerland and can be reached by post bus or car in 35 minutes from Brienz.

For centuries the Axalp and surrounding Alps from Brienz was used as alpine pastures for the cattle. The Alp Hinterburg is already occupied in 1275.

Today the Axalp is a winter sports resort in the cold season. The ski lifts at Axalp operated by the Sportbahnen Axalp Windegg AG. There is a chair lift ( " Windegg " ), three ski lifts ( Tschingel, Hüttboden and Dotzweglift ) and two children's lifts. The Axalp is considered very child and family friendly.

In summer many hiking and mountain trails can be committed. For Hinterburgseeli introduces Schnitzlerweg: along the way are many figures to see which were cut from Brienz wood carvers and sculptors from tree trunks. They used 1999 overturned trees by hurricane Lothar.

An attraction of a different kind is the annual flight demonstration Axalp the Swiss Air Force on the shooting range Axalp - Ebenfluh.
