Axel Johannes Malmquist

Axel John Malmquist, better known as " John Malmquist " (* October 19, 1882 in Hammar, † February 24, 1952 in Solna ), was a Swedish mathematician.

Biography

He was the last student of Magnus Gösta Mittag-Leffler and his doctorate 1909. From 1913 to 1948 he was professor at the Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm. He worked in the editorial office of Acta Mathematica.

He put his mathematically important contribution before 1913, when he proved a link between non-linear differential equations and Riccatischen differential equations. 1933 was Kosaku Yosida a more elegant proof on this issue at. Thus the basis was created for the systematic work Hans Wittich in the 1950s. Later, other authors more general solutions that they create.
