Azare
Azare is a Nigerian city in the state of Bauchi.
Population
In 1991, the city had 69,035 inhabitants, in 2012 a population of 59,875 was calculated. It is Hausa, Fulani and Kanuri and thus predominantly Muslims.
Economy
The main industry is agriculture Azares. There are mostly grown cotton and peanuts. There are several schools and a hospital.
Events
Two bombs were detonated in front of police stations on December 4, 2011 in Azare and attacked two bank branches. In the five-hour battle, a policeman, a soldier and four civilians died. Local police suspected that the attack by members of the Boko Haram was performed.
