Azem Maksutaj

Azem Maksutaj ( born July 8, 1975 in Dečani, Kosovo ) is a Swiss Thai boxer Kosovo- Albanian descent who lives in Winterthur.

Life

Moved to Winterthur, Azem Maksutaj took 15 years for the first time participated in a Thai - boxing training. He was already 16 years old Swiss champion against Jesus Perez in 1992. 1994, with 18 years, he fought his way to the European title against Tom Rasmussen, who was classified as a very strong Thai boxer. With 19 years Azem won the world title in 1994 against Sergio Bertalozzi. On March 19, 1995, he lost his world title to Peri Ubeda. On November 2, 1996, he conquered against Faisal Reding back the title. In 1997, Peter Klee his opponent in Milan and Aurelien Duarte in France. On 7 November 1998 Azem defended against Moussa Sissoko (France) his ISKA world title successfully ( knockout in the 3rd round ). On 27 February 1999, he fought against Maleve Manhoff in Pavia (I). The fourth and final world title of WPKL he picked up on 11 December 1999 in Bosnia.

On 13 April 2005 Azem Maksutaj lost a fight against Ruslan Karajew Hotel Mirage in Las Vegas. Since October 2006, Azem is trained by the Thai Muay Thai successful coach in June Ruangram Tanomsak.

Azem Maksutaj married on 23 February 2007 in his home his longtime girlfriend. In the spring of 2010 appeared in the cinemas of the Swiss film about Azem Maksutajs life. The film is called Being Azem and was financially supported by the Film Funding Switzerland. In Winterthur Maksutaj operates the Martial Arts School Wing Thai Gym.
