Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall

The Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall (actually, Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Müslüm Maqomayev; Azerbaijani: Müslüm Maqomayev Adina Azərbaycan Dövlət Filarmoniyası ) is a concert hall in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

The concert hall was founded in 1936 and is a national cultural institution of Azerbaijan. Institutionally, it is part of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan. The building is located in the city center at the address Istiqlaliyyət küçəsi 2

History

The building of the State Philharmonic Society of Azerbaijan was built in 1910-1912 in the style of eclecticism. In 1920 the independent ensembles, orchestras and musical groups have been combined in this building. On May 25, 1936, a State Philharmonic was founded as in the other Union republics of the USSR in Azerbaijan. Since 1937, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Azerbaijan bears the name of the composer Müslüm Maqomayev.

In the concert hall are two rooms: the main hall with seating capacity of 1,100, and the small hall with 610 seats.

The Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall is a standard repertoire for classical music and Azerbaijani music. As part of the State Philharmonic seven ensembles are active: the State Symphony Orchestra, the State Choir Chapel, the chamber orchestra Qara Qarayev, the State Fortepiano Trio, the State Quartet, the ensemble of Fikrət Əmirov, the Song and Dance Ensemble and the standing under whose direction state Orchestra of Folk instruments. In addition, there also demonstrations of famous foreign ensembles and soloists will take place.
