Azize Tanrıkulu

Azize Tanrikulu ( born February 9, 1986 in Bismil ) is a former Turkish Taekwondo, which started in the spring and middleweight. Her achievements were the winning an Olympic silver medal and a European champion.

Tanrikulu launched since 2002 in international competitions. In the adult area, they played their first title fights at the European Championships in 2004 in Lillehammer, where she was eliminated in the quarter -finals. The following year, she succeeded in the class up to 63 kg, the definitive breakthrough in the international forefront. At the World Championships in Madrid, she reached the quarterfinals, where she retired against Carmen Marton. At the European Championships in Riga, she was European champion for the first time. In addition, she won gold at the Universiade in Izmir. The following European Championships ended for Tanrikulu each in the quarterfinals. In 2008, she was able to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing. There they reached in the class up to 57 kg with three wins the finals and won the silver medal. She suggested inter alia Martina Zubčić and Diana Lopez, but lost the final Lim Su- jeong. After the games, she ended her active career.

Tanrikulu studied at the Akdeniz University. Her brother Bahri is also a successful Taekwondo and Olympic medalist.
