Ba Bể National Park

The National Park Ba Be ( Vietnamese Quốc gia Vuon Ba Be ) is located in the province of Kan Bắc in the mountainous north of Vietnam. The protected area covers an area of ​​10,048 ha landscape of the National Park is characterized by large expanses of forest, mountains, steep slopes, deep valleys, rivers, farmland and lakes landscape Hồ Ba Be, the only natural lakes in Vietnam.

In the area of ​​two endemic and endangered species of monkey occur, ( Semnopithecus francoisi francoisi and Pygathrix avunculus ). Two other highly endangered species is stain Roller ( Chrotogale owstoni ) and the Vietnamese Salamander ( Paramesotriton deloustali ). A total of 354 butterfly species, 43 reptiles and amphibians, 38 species of mammals, 27 species of bats and 233 species have been recorded (Le Trong et al. 2004).

As ethnic groups live in the park Tay (62%), Hmong ( 20%), Dao ( 5%) and drying ( 3%). The Vietnamese ( Kinh ) settled recently and do today 10% of the population.
