Babybird
Babybird is a British band that was founded by Stephen Jones.
History
Stephen Jones was born on 16 September 1962 at the British Telford. He spent his teenage years in New Zealand. Since he was 18 he lived back in England, first in Nottingham, from 1996 in Sheffield, where he called Babybird to life, then in Manchester and finally in London, the city, on the one hand the sought anonymity offered him, the other, the proximity to the heart of the music industry.
Jones had recorded in his basement in 1988 with a four -track recorder over 400 songs (in the relevant lo-fi quality). In 1995 he founded his own record label Babybird Recordings and released one after the other within just six months, four albums on which his compositions were exclusively heard. In 1996 he received a record deal and formed the band Babybird. Some titles in the first four albums and some new recordings they finally published in October 1996 on the album Ugly Beautiful. This album is probably the best known song of the group, You're Gorgeous (UK # 3, best selling single of 1996 in the UK).
From 1997, the group name only wrote in one word.
On March 3, published in 2003, Stephen Jones solo album Almost Cured for Sadness ( Sanctuary / Rough Trade ).
On 25 September 2003 was followed by another album titled Plastic Tablets in 2002 with four CDs.
Also in 2003, Jones wrote the soundtrack to the film Blessed. The film never was shown in cinemas and was only released in 2004 on DVD. The soundtrack was never laid, on the grounds that the title would be without the images lose their effect.
End of 2006, Baby Bird was back with the album Between My Ears There Is Nothing But Music. This was " ( Cargo Records ) Popup" published in Germany in February 2008 by the label.
On 10 November 2008, the double album Death of the Neighbourhood, which was also published as a solo project by Stephen Jones followed.
His own projects were Stephen Jones enough time to also bring in projects of the band The Lightning Seeds, " Aim" or " All seeing I". For some of these collaborations Jones lent the band his voice or acted as an author for some titles.
Also on numerous compilations are pieces found by Jones. So Jones reinterpreted together with Luke Scott in 2002 entitled We All Make The Little Flowers Grow by Lee Hazlewood Total Lee for the compilation, for which many well-known bands grossed new songs of the U.S. singer Lee Hazlewood.
Johnny Depp has declared himself a fan of the band and performed in the video for the song " Unloveable " Director.
