Bachenberg

Bach Berg is a municipality in the district of Old Churches ( Westerwald) in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Old churches.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald about 5 km north of the county town old churches. The municipal area stretches from from Beulskopf in a southeasterly direction. In the western and northern part is dominated by contiguous forest areas, the southern part is dominated by agricultural land. Within the district seven parts of the landscape are shown as worth preserving habitats since 1987.

Neighboring towns are Busenhausen the northwest, Niedererbach the east and the farms / hamlets Kober stone and Dieperzen in the southwest.

History

The first mention of Bachenberg took place in 1428.

Bachenberg belonged to the county of Sayn and after its division in the 17th century to the County of Sayn- ​​old churches. Within the county Bachenberg belonged to the parish of Old Churches, which represented a secular administrative unit, and the lower courts exercised. 1787 were counted in Bachenberg eleven households. In 1803 the county and thus Bachenberg was awarded the Principality of Nassau- Usingen Reichsdeputationshauptschluss, which rose in 1806 in the Duchy of Nassau. As a result of measures taken on the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) Decisions and due to a contract concluded between Nassau and Prussia were ceded the two formerly saynischen counties to the Kingdom of Prussia.
