Bacourt

Bacourt is a commune with 117 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), which is located in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins, in the canton of Delme and the Communauté de communes du Kommunalverband Saulnois.

Geography

Bacourt located about 25 kilometers southeast of Metz in Saulnois. The municipality covers 3.89 km ² (289 acres ). The location is off the main roads. Neighboring municipalities are Prévocourt, Tincry and Xocourt.

History

Bacourt was first mentioned in 1018 as Badascort in the cartulary of the cathedral of Metz in documents. It belonged in the Middle Ages to the barony of Viviers and Marquisat of Pont- à -Mousson. In the 13th century was the seat of a Bacourt Seigneurie the Bacourt family.

1698 belonged to Bacourt Bailliage ( Court ) of Pont- à -Mousson, which in turn was part of the Duchy of Bar, from 1751 it belonged to the newly formed Bailliage of Château- Salins.

1793 Bacourt received the status of a municipality and in 1801 the right to local self-government in the wake of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ). It belonged from 1801 to 1871 to the former department of Meurthe, which was renamed in 1871 in Meurthe -et -Moselle. 1871, the community was incorporated into the newly created National Rural Alsace-Lorraine by the German Empire due to territorial changes through the course of the German - French War ( 1870-1871 ). The National Rural Alsace-Lorraine existed until the end of World War I (1914-1918) and was subsequently dissolved. Bacourt was at that time in the department of Moselle, this change was also maintained in 1918, when France was awarded Moselle again. Bacourt belonged as a French-speaking village to the last 247 municipalities whose name was Germanized on September 2, 1915. The name was changed to " Baden Mayrhofen " and until 1918 was the official place name.

The coat of arms of the municipality is modeled on the keystone in the arch of the church Saint -Martin. It shows a golden crowned lion on a red background.

Attractions

In the parish church of Saint -Martin in the 15th century is a holy figure of the patron saint Martin of Tours from the last quarter of the 15th century, as a monument historique in 1984 ( historical monument ) was classified.
