Bad News

Bad News is a fictional heavy metal band from the United Kingdom, which consisted of the ensemble of The Comic Strip. The series ran in the UK from 1982 to 2005 on the television channel Channel 4

Band biography

Concept of the two sequences with Bad News is a heavy metal band that serves all the usual clichés. Vim Fuego (played by Adrian Edmondson ) is a selfish, narcissistic singer and guitarist, who always pushes itself into the foreground. Colin Grigson ( Rik Mayall ) is an absolutely untalented bassist who dominated hardly a sound on his instrument. He is tolerated only because in the group, because it has its own PA. The Dennis ( Nigel Planer ) is characterized mainly by its stupidity and is a traditional metallers, confronts all foreign influences hostile. Spider Webb (Peter Richardson ) is the hyperactive drummer of the group, however, is always caught up in other things. Also on display is Jennifer Saunders, who plays a journalist who goes on tour.

1982 the group plays the lead role in the mockumentary Bad News Tour, which shows the group at a self-funded tour of Britain. After several incidents, it creates the group at the famous Roxy in London to come and occurs there in front of five viewers and a dog. There was a real tour of the UK.

Due to the great success of another documentary was released in 1987 under the title More Bad News. The group was allowed to occur within this documentation on the Monsters of Rock festival in 1986. Then they released a self-titled debut album and two singles which were produced by Brian May. In addition to some of the songs are a series of comedy segments on the LPs. A cover version of Bohemian Rhapsody reached number 44 on the British charts.

In November 1986, Bad News played the opening act for Iron Maiden at the Hammersmith Odeon. Guests Brian May and Jimmy Page involved, each with a guitar solo. The performance was a benefit event for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. A performance at the Reading Festival in 1987.

Then " solved " to the group. Following two recordings were released with rarem material. Officially, the group met only once in 1991 on the occasion of a Red Nose Days together the charity Comic Relief.

Although the group is repeatedly referred to as " British answer " on Spinal Tap, the first TV appearance took place two years earlier than the Spinal Tap movie.
