Badhamia

Badhamia utricularis ( immature )

Badhamia is a cosmopolitan genus of slime molds the Myxogastria. It includes 30 species.

Features

The fruiting bodies are sessile to pedunculated Sporokarpe or Plasmodiokarpe. The stems, if any, are variable. You can be well differentiated or form a unabgegrenzte, membrane-or thread-like connection to Hypothallus. The peridium consists of one or two layers of rare, either without or with much lime.

The scalp is composed of calcareous tubes that are networked at all levels, but it is sometimes interrupted by lime-free, thread-like, physaroide sections or entirely composed of nearly parallel, calcareous tubes that are barely connected to each other. Its not often you find a columella or Pseudocolumella.

The spores are dark brown to black, occasionally brown in mass, they are free or clumped.

Dissemination

Badhamia has been proven worldwide. The most common type is Badhamia affinis.
