Badí‘

Badi ' (Arabic: بديع; " the Great " ) is the title of Aqa Buzurg -i - Nishapuri (* 1852 † July 1869 in Tehran, Iran). He is " The Pride of Martyrs " also known by the title, as he delivered the epistle of Baha'u'llah to Naser ad -Din Shah and was killed because of it.

Life

Aqa Buzurg raised the Iranian province of Khorasan in the city of Nishapur. His father Abdu'l- Majid -i - Nishapuri was an outstanding creditors of the Bab and Baha'u'llah. Aqa Buzurg but initially showed no interest. Through a discussion with the chronicler Nabil -i - A'zam, who cited, among others, the Arabic poem Qasídiy -i ʿ Izz -i Varqá'íyyih of Baha'u'llah, Aqa Buzurg was moved to tears and turned into a enthusiastic Baha'i.

Aqa Buzurg Baha'u'llah intended to visit. His journey took him from Baghdad to Mosul and Yazd. In Baghdad and Mosul, he worked as a water carrier for the local Baha'i. From Mosul finally Aqa Buzurg went on foot to Acre and reached the beginning of 1869, the prison city. He could speak twice with Baha'u'llah there. In these conversations Baha'u'llah mentioned the Epistle to the Shah that he had already revealed. Aqa Buzurg asked to be allowed to deliver the missive to the Shah. Baha'u'llah accepted the offer, although already vain were asking numerous other believers before Aqa Buzurg. Aqa Buzurg received during these two talks entitled " Badi ' " (Arabic: " the Great ").

Badi ' was instructed to return alone to Persia and take no connection to the faithful. After a walk of about four months he reached Tehran and gave the Shah the missive. Then Badi 'was captured and tortured to reveal the names of his alleged accomplices, or at least his co-religionists in Tehran. Badi ' was, however, betrayed no one. Finally Badi died ' the martyr's death.

By order of the Shah, a picture was taken by Badi ' and his heroic behavior was described ` zam of Muhammad Vali Sipahdár - iA, who heard it from Kazim Khan -i - Farrash -bashi, who carried out the torture. The event was even described by a French diplomat, in a dispatch. From Baha'u'llah Badi received ' the title " The Pride of Martyrs " and of Shoghi Effendi the title Apostle of Baha'u'llah. The Kitab -i - Badi, a holy scripture of the Baha'i from the pen of Baha'u'llah is not named after the Badi ' of this article. However, there is a missive of Baha'u'llah to Badi ', which indicates that both knew about a possible martyrdom.
