Badrutt's Palace Hotel

Badrutt's Palace is a 5 -star hotel in St. Moritz, overlooking the lake and the Corviglia. It was opened in 1896 and is still owned by the Badrutt family. The hotel has 159 guest rooms and 38 suites. It is considered popular and world famous and is one of the " Leading Hotels of the World".

History

The history of the Hotel Badrutt family began in 1856 when John Badrutt bought a small house in St. Moritz and the Engadine Hotel Kulm rebuilt, which means today Kulm Hotel St. Moritz. He had built an artificial bobsled and a curling facility for guests. 1864 bought Badrutts son Caspar, Hotel Beau Rivage in St. Moritz and left it in 1892 to the present Palace Hotel remodel. Officially opened the house then in 1896, two years later took over Caspar's son Hans Badrutt the management. In 1913, the current dining room were built and indoor tennis courts, which are among the first in Europe (now King's Club ).

1935/36, the family bought the Chesa Veglia and converted it to a restaurant. In 2002 the shopping line Serletta was opened with international shops in Via Serlas below the hotel, later renamed the Palace Gallery. 2003, the 280 m² big Hans Badrutt Suite was completed. Since the retreat of the Rosewood Group in April 2003 Badrutt's Palace is led again as a private hotel. Managing Director since 2004, the hotel manager Hans Wiedemann ( born 1953 ). The childless owner, Hans Jürg and Aniko Badrutt (* 1930), bequeathed Wiedemann 2006 (2008 notarized ) their two-thirds share of the hotel. The remaining third were sold by the great-grandson of the founder and nephew of Hans Jürg Badrutt, Johannes Badrutt, 2006 to the Italian real estate company Zunino. The turnover of the house in 2008 amounted to 48.5 million francs.
