BAE Systems Mantis

The BAE Mantis is an unmanned aerial vehicle of the British manufacturer BAE Systems, which will serve as a demonstrator for the Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle ( UCAV ) technology.

History

The development of the Mantis began in 2007 and a year later a dummy on the Farnborough International Airshow was shown. The first flight of the aircraft with approximately 20 m Span was on November 13, 2009 in Woomera ( Australia). It is powered by two Rolls- Royce M250 engines.
