Bairbre de Brún

Bairbre de Brún ( born January 10, 1954 in Dublin ) is a Northern Irish Sinn Féin politician and former Member of Parliament for the constituency of Northern Ireland.

From 1998 to 2004, the former teacher and social worker was a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly. During this time, de Brún from 1999 to 2002 was Minister for Health, Welfare institutions and public safety in the Northern Ireland government.

From 2004 until her retirement in May 2, 2012 de Brún sat as a member of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left in the European Parliament.
