History

The town was founded in 1929 after an oil field had been discovered in the neighborhood. It was named after the founder of the settlement JT Baker. Within a year, the necessary infrastructure for the supply of the oil field was established, and the population rose to just over 1000th With the fall of oil prices in the early 1930s and the consequent reduced production it was decided that the adjacent Taylor -Link oil field shut down, and Bakersfield was largely abandoned. Many houses were simply torn down, or there was an attempt to sell them far below market value. By 1945, the population dropped to 45 in 1976, the population was still 30, the same value reached the place at the 2000 census.
