Bala Garba-Jahumpa

Ibrahima Garba Bala Muhamadu - Jahumpa ( born July 20, 1958 in Banjul) is a former foreign minister ( Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs ) of the West African country Gambia.

Life

Garba - Jahumpa is the son of Ibrahima Garba Momodou - Jahumpa, the politician Fatoumatta Jahumpa - Ceesay is his half-sister. After his education Garba - Jahumpa spent the years 1975-1977 in the United States at the Suffield Academy and then attended until 1980 the elite high school Vassar College.

In 1981, he entered the civil service of The Gambia and worked in the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1982 he joined the Foreign Ministry. There, he prepared, for example, before the speeches of the Minister. Then he went from 1984 to 1985 to Washington, DC to work for the Gambian Ambassador to the United States. In 1986 he returned to The Gambia and worked here back in the government service.

Garba - Jahumpa in 1994 shortly after the military coup led by the current President Yahya Jammeh to the financial and economic ministers (English Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs ) appointed. On 20 March 1995 he moved to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour ( English Minister of Trade, Industry and Employment), but remained there only briefly and was from 5 July again in 1995 with responsibility for the finance and business.

From July 1997 to May 1999, he was Deputy High Commissioner of Gambia High Commission London and then to June 2001 High Commissioner. On June 21, 2003, he was appointed ambassador to Cuba, but remained in this position only until September and then in October the Minister of Works and Transport infrastructure (English Secretary of State for Works, Construction and Infrastructure) appointed.

On 19 October 2006 Maba Jobe was announced as part of a cabinet reshuffle as the new Foreign Minister of Gambia. Jammeh declared the appointment but on 25 October void and ordered instead Bala Garba - Jahumpa the responsibilities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to.

On 13 September 2007 Garba - Jahumpa was provided as the new ambassador to Venezuela. As the new foreign minister Crispin Grey -Johnson was determined. On October 3, he was taken with other employees of the State Department for an interview because of a passport fraud. He was declared on the merits of his innocence.
