Balalayka is a Turkish film from 2000. Directed by Ali Özgentürk. The screenplay was written by Isil Özgentürk. In Germany the film was first shown in cinemas on 18 October 2001.

Action

The brothers Necati, Hasan and Mehment went to Russia to pick up the coffin with the remains of an old family friend, who is to be buried in the home. Your fellow passengers on the bus from Batumi to Istanbul, provided that they cross the border, exclusively women: They hope to earn as prostitutes in Turkey enough to their family or to make a better life themselves. During the long journey to get closer while drinking, singing and telling stories until the business end is forgotten.

Criticism

The lexicon of the International film said: Steam road movie that turns against sweeping prejudice and by its more patchwork -like structure paints a colorful picture of the travel company.
