Balázs Szabó

Balázs Szabó (* 1985 in Miskolc, Hungary) is a Hungarian organist and organ expert.

Life

Szabó began his musical training at age 15 in his hometown. From 2003 he studied organ at the Ferenc Liszt founded by Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, then in Wurzburg, Trossingen and Rome. During his studies, he received master classes in addition to artistic impulses by Christoph Bossert, in whose class he has completed the 2010 master class for organ. Parallel to the master class he completed under the auspices of the Vatican's International Master Course » OrganExpert ". As an organ expert, he is active throughout Europe, his focus is on the restoration, reconstruction of the organs of the 19th and early 20th century. He has learned the restoration of art harmonies through self-study and concerts throughout Europe as a harmonizer on restored by him instruments from his collection of instruments. Since 2011 he teaches at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in Budapest, where he among other things, directs the newly organized Organolgy training.

As a key instrument specialist, he performs alongside his organist career from an active concert career as a pianist and harpsichordist. He is also one of the few harmonists that dominate the game of Mustelschen art virtuoso harmonies.

Awards

Balázs Szabó won several international organ competitions, including:

  • Premier Prix in St. Maurice ( 2007)
  • Grand Prix and Prix Spécial in Biarritz ( 2009)
  • 1st prize at the 60th International Organ Festival Nuremberg - ION Musica Sacra ( 2011).

For his artistic activity he was awarded, including:

  • Man of the Year (2008, Hungary)
  • Price level of the city of Miskolc (2010)
  • Junior Prima Award ( 2010).
