Baldwin III, Count of Hainaut

Baldwin III. (* 1088, † 1120) out of the house from 1098 Flanders was Count of Hainaut. He was the son of Count Baldwin II and Ida of Louvain.

Baldwin III. joined in his struggle for the County of Flanders, which had been deprived of his father by his uncle Robert I., a coalition to Emperor Henry V, which was directed against Count Robert II of Flanders. They attacked 1105, subject, however, after which Baldwin was forced to resign in 1110 Cambrai. After the death of Count Baldwin VII of Flanders in 1119 he attempted against his successor Charles of Denmark again to conquer the country, but equally unsuccessful.
